EBEC Engineering Competition

European BEST Engineering Competition (EBEC) is a 3 level, team-based competition, on 2 categories: Team Design and Case Study.

In Team Design teams are solving tasks within a limited time and a limited availability of materials. The desired outcome is a device that has to perform the needed actions.

In Case Study category contestants need to provide a solution to a technical or a management problem and to present the outcome they came up with.

Teams are composed of 4 students from technology fields, regardless of status of their degree, and tasks they’re solving are provided by BEST and company partners. The team which proves to be the most efficient, creative and successful solution at the end of competition finale is granted by “BEST Engineers of Europe” title.

The EBEC project is divided into three rounds, the Local Round, the National/Regional Round and the Final Round, where the best teams from all over Europe will face each other. For more information on this event, please go to the official EBEC website.

BEST Las Palmas Competition

Local event organized by the local group associated to the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

In the different competitions, distributed throughout the school year, students of any university degree compete against each other in various ways.

These competitions are based on the search for innovative solutions to real and current problems provided by the collaborating companies. On that challenge, a multidisciplinary group of students must find the best solution for this.

Regional Meeting

BEST organizes several Regional Meetings throughout the year, where students from different European universities meet to share their opinions, contributions and conclusions on the current state of the association.

The main purpose of this event is to prepare the representatives of each local BEST group that will attend the General Meetings to discuss at an international level the future of the association, to guide its trajectory and to decide the strategies to follow to achieve its objectives. It is a great opportunity to innovate and grow as an organization by ensuring that all members identify and understand the vision, mission and values of the organization.

Every 6 months, a meeting is organized in a different European city from each of the 11 regions in which the local BEST groups are distributed. In 2018, BEST Las Palmas was in charge of organizing the meeting of Region 11, formed by the cities of Aveiro, Coimbra, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Madrid, Porto, Paris, Rome and Valladolid.

Local Knowledge Transfer

The result of BEST is the interaction of students from different fields of study related to technology, that is why in BEST Las Palmas we intend to take advantage of this diversity and propose a learning program in which each member of the association organizes a session for their peers and for the rest of the students.

Its main objective is to transmit knowledge acquired during their training (hard skills) and that can serve as a complement to the training of the rest of the group or in which they share a session they have received in an internal event of the association, such as project management, conflict solving, team dynamics, etc. (Soft skills).

Motivational Events

Its purpose is to make an intensive transfer of knowledge as well as to help improve the team dynamics of the members through team building activities. To this end, members will learn behavioral and work strategies of all kinds, taught by the members themselves or by specialized trainers.
